As cities increasingly turn to electric vehicles for logistics, the demand
for light-duty trucks that offer both environmental benefits and enhanced safety
continues to rise. Addressing this need, Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer
WEICHAI NECV has introduced its latest electric light truck, the LANDKING X7. It
puts safety at the forefront, offering a range of advanced features that span
the vehicle’s structural design, electric powertrain and smart driving
systems.
The LANDKING X7 is equipped with a 200-kilowatt-hour battery developed by
WEICHAI Findreams, which the company says is the first of its kind in the
industry. The centrally mounted battery improves vehicle balance and contributes
to a driving range of more than 650 kilometers (about 400 miles) on a single
charge. The truck is designed to operate in a wide range of temperatures, from
minus 30 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees Celsius, thanks to its standard liquid
cooling and preheating system. An upgraded rapid heating feature warms the
battery by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius per minute in cold weather, significantly
improving battery performance and range in harsh conditions.
WEICHAI NECV has emphasized safety in the LANDKING X7’s development,
incorporating multiple safety technologies into the powertrain, braking system
and body structure. The vehicle uses a flat-wire electric motor and an
intelligent control platform that enables rapid response and smooth power
output. The electric drive system carries an IP68 rating for water and dust
resistance, and includes safeguards that automatically disconnect power in the
event of abnormal voltage, current or temperature readings.
Braking improvements include an upgraded air brake system with 10-bar
pressure at the wheel end, anti-lock braking (ABS), and electronic brakeforce
distribution (EBD)。 Together, the systems reduce braking distance by up to 6%
under full load or complex road conditions, according to the company. Additional
features such as hill-start assist and anti-slip regulation aim to improve
stability on inclines and slippery surfaces.
The vehicle’s chassis features a closed high-strength steel frame, with a
platform width of 865mmand central web width of 215mm. A multi-leaf spring
suspension system is included to enhance structural rigidity and performance
under heavy loads or emergency situations.
Advanced driver assistance systems are standard, including Level 2
intelligent driver-assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, lane
departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and lane
keeping. Optional features include a 360-degree camera system and blind-spot
monitoring to improve situational awareness in dense urban environments.
WEICHAI NECV says the LANDKING X7 is part of its broader goal to position
itself as a leading player in the electric light truck segment, with a focus on
combining hardware reliability and intelligent systems to support the
development of low-emission urban transport.
